Tennis Tournament Photography
What it is:
We will provide full coverage of your tennis tournament. We do action photographs of the players in action, and we aim to get a section of shots of each player, ideally a forehand, serve and backhand shot. This is not always possible, but it's what we try to do.
We can also photograph the prizegiving, that is up to the organiser as we don't wish to slow down the proceedings too much.
Who is it for?:
We sell prints and electronic files to parents.
How does it work?
We have a roaming photographer or 2, and they take the shots. We attempt to shoot every court and every player where possible. Their images are downloaded multiple times per day to our computers, and we set up a viewing station or 2 in the tennis clubhouse and allow the photographs to be viewed. We catalog them by court number, so once we know what day, and court number a player played on, we can usually find their images very quickly. Once photographs have been chosen, we then collect payment, and print the photographs there and then. From the point of choosing the images, they can be printed and in the purchasers hands in a couple of minutes.
What about web sales?
We can optionally provide a web gallery where parents can choose images and purchase them. This can be password protected, or public - whatever is preferred by the club.
Who have you done this for in the past?
We have worked with Castleknock, Naas and Templeogue Lawn Tennis Clubs. Here is what they had to say about us:
Naas LTC: "Naas Lawn Tennis club has been fortunate enough to have had Merv Colton as our resident photographer for a number of years covering both our club and open competitions to the highest standards of sports photography available in Ireland. Both our own members and visitors alike appreciate the professionalism of Merv and his team in their approach to the task of obtaining quality images in an unobtrusive manner."
Templeogue LTC: "The Templeogue Babolat Junior Open committee were delighted to have Merv Colton and his team cover our event in such a professional and unobtrusive manner. The event which is one of the biggest of it's kind attracting over 400 players from all over the country was hugely enhanced by the provision of the wonderful photographic record available to all. We look forward to seeing Merv again next year".
What about Tennis Ireland, Do they know what you do?
Yes, they do. In fact we've done work for them in the past. They have this to say about us: "Merv has been supplying photographs to Tennis Ireland since his involvement in the 2008 Davis Cup campaign that took place in Fitzwilliam LTC. These action photos were of a high enough quality to be used on the homepage of the Tennis Ireland website and as prints in our meeting rooms at the Tennis Ireland. Since then Merv has been engaged with us on several occasions supplying Tennis Ireland with action and editorial shots that are always of a high standard delivered in a professional and efficient manner"
What does it cost?
Well, it costs the club nothing! If we do a good job, then we'll sell photographs to parents, and make our living from that.
You mean, you turn up for free?
Yes, that's pretty much it. We would request some space to work in the clubhouse, somewhere accessible to the parents, a mains electricity plug, and permission to put up a few posters, and that's about it! We do reserve the right to know the entry size beforehand, we'll not turn up for small events (less than 100 entries) as it would not stack up commercially.
How do we book you?
Go to the contact screen on this web page, complete the form and send me the web address of your tournament. I'll be in touch, and we can take it from there!
